Ivan “Big Ive” Thomas started with a basement, a camera, and a belief that Wilmington’s story deserved to be told right. No film school. No shortcuts. Just a kid from Southbridge who taught himself to make television and built DETV into the largest independently owned media company in Delaware.
Today, he’s the host of Delaware’s award-winning morning show, Good Morning Delaware, a TEDx speaker, and a recipient of the Order of the First State, Delaware’s highest civilian honor. He’s the 2025 Community Service Award winner from the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, an Ebony Tie Affair Community Service Award honoree, and the winner of the Trailblazer Award from Jet Phynx at the Dirty Popcorn Black Film Festival.
He’s an AT&T Black Business of the Year nominee and a three-time Delaware Business Times 222 Most Influential Leader, with twelve Delaware Press Association awards on the shelf.
